Four Ways Angels Can Be Activated In Your Favor

angel“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” -Psalm 91:11

I remember driving from my country of birth Nicaragua towards the United States many years ago. It was one of those adventures you take when you are young, and you feel you can do anything. I was living in New York at that time, so you can imagine how many miles I had to drive. Look at Nicaragua on the map, and you can figure it out.

It was getting dark I could see the sun setting and the night falling as a dark blanket silhouette over the horizon. I was on a high mountain in Guatemala near the Mexican border. All of a sudden a red light went on in the dashboard. It showed the battery was dying. The car stopped. We were on a dirt road, no lights, no nothing. In a matter of minutes, the whole mountain was in complete darkness.

I looked at my brother in law, who was riding with me; we were both stunned! We didn’t know what to say to each other. I got out of the car, lifted the hood and smoke started to come out. The unexpected had happened. We were stuck right in the middle of nowhere. My concern was we had USA plates, we were easy targets, sitting ducks for those looking to take advantage of traveling tourists. A few cars passed us without stopping. The only thing I could do was pray in silence. It was getting darker and darker as time went by. The car battery still had a little charge, enough to have the parking lights or fog lights on in the meantime.

As believers, the first thing we need to know when confronted by unexpected dangerous circumstance is the following: We are not alone! “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” Psalm 91:11 He will dispatch or release His angels to assist and protect you.

I would say an hour passed by. Suddenly I saw the lights of a vehicle approaching from behind us. A man got off a mini-bus and asked me, what was the problem? I told him I needed I boost. He did that, and my small Dasher Volkswagen went on. Then he said, I’ll go slowly ahead of you. We were heading down the road when everything came to a sudden stop. No more lights, no nothing. I could only see the mini-bus leaving us behind. I remained seated behind the wheel.

Again, we became surrounded by darkness. I had never seen so much darkness in my entire life. I could hardly see the face of my brother in law seated right next to me. 5 minutes went by. It felt like an eternity to me. Suddenly I saw the reverse lights of a vehicle backing up. It was the same man. He got off and said to me, “I’m going to push you from behind until we get to the next town.” Oh, that was music to my ears. When we arrived at the little village, he came to me and said, “I know a mechanic in this town I’m going to see if I find him wait here.” He came back with him saying to him, “Take care of him until tomorrow and make sure you fix his car.” The man said, ok. Then he left.

While this was taking place, I experienced such a peace and confidence during the whole process. We slept in the car that night; in the morning the mechanic fixed our car. When I asked him about that man, he said that he would only see him from time to time.

I have never forgotten that experience. As I narrate it to you, I vividly live and experience God’s presence. I can assure you, that man was an angel sent by God to protect us from suffering any harm.

This is one of the ways He keeps us safe. Next month I will discuss three other ways.
Much Love, come back next month for the conclusion of this Blog.

During A Spiritual Attack Avoid Distractions

boxerpunchedinfaceHave you heard the boxing expression, “The punch that you don’t see is the one that knocks you out?”

You can’t afford to be distracted by anything when under a spiritual attack. The most important reason is you need to be all ears to the directives of the Holy Spirit. One thing is to avoid paying too much attention to one specific thing, and another is purposely not wanting to take your eyes away from the one who’s trying to take you out. The moment the enemy declares war against you, the Holy Spirit will engage him right away. You are not alone when fighting a spiritual battle. Jesus said,

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever” -John 14:16

“…Because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” -Hebrews 13:5

I know it feels like you are all alone when you are at the center of a spiritual attack. But the truth is you are not. Would you leave your child alone in a cave of wolves? I don’t think so. Here is a very important tip you need to know when under siege.

The Lord is going to send you help. It may come in different forms. Hence, you need to keep your spiritual eyes and ears wide open to receive it when He sends it.

Let me give you an example. The story of Elisha and his servant recorded in 2 Kings, chapter 6. It goes like this.

Israel and the Aramean army are at war. The Prophet Elisha is receiving detailed information about the military moves of the king of Arameans, and he is relating it to the king of Israel. Obviously, the Aramean king is enraged and wants to know the location of Elisha. Word comes back to the king that the Prophet is in the city of Dotham. He then proceeds to send a strong force of men to capture him.

When the servant of the Prophet gets up the next morning, he goes outside and sees the city surrounded by a numerous army of chariots and soldiers.

“Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.

“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”-2Kings 6:15-16

Remember what I said in the previous paragraphs; never be afraid of the enemy. Now, you need to keep your focus on the battle. Avoid unnecessary distractions. Help will always come, keep looking for it. This is how you will encourage yourself during the spiritual attack.

Notice the servant is so afraid he’s is not realizing God had already engaged the enemy and had it surrounded. So Elisha has to pray for him.

“And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” -2Kings 6:17

Fear will always paralyze your faith. It is a distraction.

I hope you find refuge in this story. The enemy will try to get your focus away from the situation so he can take the upper hand. Do not allow this to happen to you during your spiritual attack. Always be conscious of the reality that you are not alone. Help is already on the way. Remain alert and discern where your help is coming from.

Be of good cheer, the Holy Spirit in the inside of you engages the enemy as soon as he launches his attack against you.

Lessons on Spiritual Warfare

KAIROS_1000x562_INVISIBLEWAR copyI am of the opinion that many believers either ignore or don’t have a good understanding on the topic of spiritual warfare. ScrIpture says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” -Hosea 4:6

In today’s world, we can’t afford to ignore the plain fact that we are under siege. We are having a battle on all fronts of our lives; our families, our belief system, our marriages, our faith is being challenged every day when it comes to our spiritual well-being. We need to be properly trained on how to use our spiritual skills. We need to know how to protect our minds and hearts to overcome all the schemes of the enemy. Paul said in Ephesians chapter 6 that it was going to be like having a hand to hand combat with the enemy.

What You Need to Know

  1. Read the New Testament and become very familiar with the trials, persecution and spiritual battle confronted by the men and women given a godly assignment.
  2. The enemy is not creative. He can only repeat what he has been doing for more than 3,000 years. Therefore if you go over his schemes in the past, you will know where he is coming from.
  3. He doesn’t know the future for he is not God. He can only go by what he sees happening in the spiritual Therefore he does a lot of guessing about how things will happen. He ignores the fact that Jesus said, “I will be with you daily till the end of times…” If He is with us, then who shall be against us? We are already WINNERS! The Lord will outsmart him every time!
  4. Study very closely the life of the apostle Paul. He is perhaps outside of our Lord the most anointed individual given personal insight about how we should conduct ourselves during times of “spiritual warfare.”
  5. Know this fact. He will hide behind something natural to cause spiritual havoc. Remember, first the natural then the spiritual. “However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.” -1 Corinthians 15:26

Let me give you an example. 2 weeks ago I had to be taken to the E.R. prior to a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to carry out a spiritual assignment. I had been feeling sick, and my doctor did not know the cause. He prescribed a pill for the pain in my stomach. Unfortunately, I took one too soon and ended up in the Emergency Room. After the fact, I realized this had been the problem. He looks for points of entry. Watch your step when undergoing a spiritual warfare battle.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” -Ephesians 6:10-11.

What Should We Do When Confronting Times of Transition?

four-seasonsDuring times of transition one may be consumed with terrifying thoughts.
One of them could be, “Where would I land when this season is finished.”

The apprehension on the soul about leaving behind your present season is real. The following are just a sample of transitional circumstances that can happen during your lifetime:

  1. Divorce.
  2. Loss of a loved one.
  3. Loss of employment
  4. End of a very close relationship.
  5. Going from riches to rags.
  6. Standing on the top and landing at the bottom.
  7. Going from having all the attention to being ignored by everybody.
  8. Traveling from success to failure.
  9. Experiencing the feeling of betrayal by your friends.
  10. Unexplainable and painful circumstances.

Following are key words during transition. For believers or anyone for that matter, these words are the same:

  • Be watchful.
  • Be sensitive to hear from God in your spirit man.
  • Prepare for change.
  • Prepare for pushing the reset button in your mind and emotions to find the approved God’s will for you.
  • Know, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His ” –Romans. 8:28

Be Watchful.
In medieval times, there were men assigned to watch on the outside wall of castles. They could see miles away when an enemy was coming. Their job was just to watch! During times of transition due to the nature of the season we can be easily distracted or focused on the wrong thing. These things can happen because we are very sensitive to our circumstances of transition not knowing for sure what’s ahead or what to do next. So, we are conditioned to quickly respond to everything that moves or focus on the wrong thing. We all need to learn to be still, alert and utilize these times to develop our hearing ear. I remember what Larry Leah used to say, “Develop Mickey Mouse ears. Prayer, with no doubt, is a discipline we can all exercise and intensify during transition.

Be Sensitive To Hear From God In Your Spirit Man .
God is always speaking; the problem is, most of the time, we are not on His same frequency. Let me illustrate this. The next time you want to select a radio station while driving do the following. Set your tuner to your favorite AM Station. Then after listening for one or two minutes just press the FM button. Instantly you will hear sounds. Either music or someone will be talking. Notice you haven’t moved the dial. The only thing it changed was the frequency!

This simple test explains what I just said about God always speaking. He is. We just need to engage with Him on the spiritual frequency He is on. He uses all means of communication and if you want to be successful concerning your next move during your transition, then you must exercise your hearing capability. He uses circumstances, people, even animals. He can use a picture on the wall or someone talking on TV. All you need is to become a student of His voice and your spirit man will slowly develop this capacity. Begin today and during your next time of transition, you will be better equipped to hear His voice.

Comeback next month for the next Blog on this topic.

Why Me?

maxresdefaultThe conclusion to why we go through trials and Unwanted Situations

In my previous Blog, we spoke about how as believers we are not exempt from seasons when our faith is challenged. Then we discussed how sometimes our wrong thinking gets us into trouble.

As believers, not one of us is to live trial-free lives; or a life absent of crisis during our life’s journey. I know this may sound too simplistic even to talk about it. Yet, there are believers who may think that given the fact that God is always on their side; when confronted with a major setback, they begin to wonder what’s going on? And begin to ask the perennial question, why me?

I have no doubt in my mind that at one time or another, we have all been tempted to ask that question. I will say it again. It is the wrong thing to ask. Think about it for a moment. Doesn’t this question sound familiar? Yes, at the beginning of all beginnings in Genesis 3.

“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?” Gen. 3:1

The serpent introduced a question mark into Eve’s thinking. She tempted her to question what Father God had said. This is the reason I say it’s the wrong thing to ask as believers.

  • Point number three: God’s time and purpose for our lives, most often than not, will not align with our personal agenda.

When looking into the lives of Bible greats such as Moses, Rahab, Joseph, Esther, David, Mary the mother of Jesus and the apostle Paul. The plans and vision they had for themselves were interrupted by Father God so they could become everything He had purposed for their lives. I wonder what thoughts ran through Mary’s mind when she was told she was about to get pregnant without having any intimate contact with her husband, Joseph. Granted it wasn’t anything bad, yet if there was one person in the world who could rightfully say why me? It was her. She didn’t do it. Scripture says she kept everything in her heart. Think of Paul, who was making his living and a personal name for himself persecuting Christians. Now on his way to Damascus, he finds himself on the ground asking the question,

“Who are you, Lord?” Acts 9:5

If you are a believer or non-believer, I want you to know your life can be changed in the twinkle of an eye. Your present circumstances can very well determine the course of your future life journey.

  • Point number four: Character is always a pre-requisite to successfully accomplish our life’s assignment.

Why do we go through trials and Unwanted Situations? Father God needs to build our character. You may be the smarter or brighter man on the planet, but I can assure you when chosen by Him to carry out a mission or godly assignment; the question of character is activated and the process to help you meet His standards is turned on. Many times we think we are not qualified to do anything godly. Wrong, we are all His people and we all have a role to play. The problem is we are not paying attention, and we miss it because we are not familiar with His ways. Get ready, the next time you face a new trial and challenge regardless of its nature; ask the right question, not the wrong one.

  • Point number five: His purpose is always greater than the purpose we try to fabricate for ourselves.

Scripture says: “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Mat. 16:26

You can try to become the greatest tycoon or greatest in any of life’s endeavors. However, if you missed out on God’s purpose for you, then you missed out on life’s purpose altogether. He wants you to have a relationship with Him. This is a far greater purpose than anything you may have in mind. It doesn’t matter how great an empire you may want to build. He wants you to build with Him, not on your own. He wants to be part of you. If you refused, then whatever you build will come to naught. He’ll let you do it. He has no problem with that. The end though is not what you would expect. Why? Because His purpose is greater than the purpose we try to fabricate for ourselves.

My advice, tune your ears when going through trials, crisis and hard times that you don’t understand. He is closer to you than you think and wants to lead you into your godly destiny.

The Reason Why The Light Shines

l5I shine for the essence of my existence is to eradicate all darkness.

I shine so when your world is surrounded by it, I can always make you see.

I shine so you can be light just like me. You are to glow in the dark just like I do.

I shine because darkness has no right to exist.

I shine so you can clearly see that it is better to love one another than to hate each other.

I shine for my DNA is composed of elements that can’t be stopped by the darkness.

I shine for my purpose to exist is wrapped in life itself.

I shine for no one could see the beauty of life without my presence.

I shine for there is no darkness in me and it’s always better to love and forgive.

I shine for humanity wouldn’t be able to find their right path without me.

I shine for everyone to see the smile on a baby and the singing of mockingbirds.

I shine for all to see the smile within the dawn of every day.

I shine for everyone to see we are all created equal to reach our destiny in life.

I shine so you can see material possessions without me, will always make you fall in the ditch.

I shine to dissipate despair, hate, hopelessness, injustices and crime.

I shine for without me, darkness wouldn’t allow good to prevail.

I shine so you can always choose life not death.

I shine for my Father designed me to illuminate the goodness of His creation.

I shine so babies can see the smile in their loving mothers and dads.

I shine for my Father believes I will prevail over the darkness in the world.

I shine for my mission is not dictated by the circumstances in life.

I shine for without me the world wouldn’t be able to distinguish between what is real and unreal.

I shine so you can see the tears of others when they hurt; so you can extend your compassion towards them in any which way you can.

I shine because there is a great destiny for you; and without me, you would never be able to figure this out.

I shine for life is hidden in what you can’t see. My Father wants everyone to see; so everyone can have the same chance to succeed.

I shine for death wants to create the illusion that everything ends when you die. Not so, in me there is eternal life guaranteeing life after death.

I shine for you to see, the pain, hunger and misfortunes of others; so you can do everything you can to change their world.

I shine so you can see the distinction between good and evil, and always choose good to overcome evil.

I shine for my Father’s desire is for you to know that He loves you with all His heart.

I shine because I am the truth, the way and the life; and no one can come to my Father without me.

Wondering Why As A Believer You Have To Go Through Trials and Unwanted Situations? Pt.1

Are you a faithful son or daughter of God? Do you find yourself presently in a pressing and unexpected circumstance? Are you wondering what the reason behind your present trial is?

Is your faith lacking because of the amount of time it is taking to overcome your present situation? Is the high level of stress affecting your health, emotions, and even rational thinking?

These are questions that as believers, require answers. Let me attempt to address some of the reasons why we as believers have to go through these difficult times:

  1. We are not exempt from seasons when our faith is challenged.
  2. We erroneously think that because God is always on our side, we are supposed to live trial-free or crisis exempt during our life’s journey.
  3. God’s time and purpose do not always align with our personal agenda.
  4. Character is always a pre-requisite to successfully accomplish our life’s assignment.
  5. His purpose is always greater than the purpose we try to fabricate for ourselves.

1. In serving the people of God, I’ve learned quite a few things. It has been sort of on-the job training. Some of the good kingdom principles I’ve learned have not come easy. I remember when I started teaching on faith; I had to put that principle to work. One thing is to teach it; practicing it is quite another. I remember taking my people to believe for the purchase of a building. We hired a professional finance company. All members had to buy bonds. Well, not all but we had to purchase a percentage of the loan. When the deal was ready to be sealed, I realized the weekly income we had was not going to be able to sustain the monthly payment for the loan. The company had suggested several scenarios for us to carry the loan, but I realized the demand was greater than our weekly finances.

I had to cancel the deal to prevent our members from losing their investment. This has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make while in active ministry. When I signed the contract, my faith was high, when I was going to close the deal, my faith was challenged and low; I canceled the deal! For years, I suffered the consequences of my decision. However, I think I did the right thing. Having said that, it’s one of the things I’ll ask the Lord for clarification when I see Him in person.

2. The majority of believers don’t think they should be Scott-free when it comes to trials and testing seasons. However, in the event you are on the minority side of this issue let me briefly touch on it. For one, I should say that trials and times of crisis are perhaps two of the options that are at Father God’s disposal. He reaches out to them when He desires to show us there is a higher and better way. He knows and can see the potential He has given us. Having the ability to see the end from the beginning, He works ahead of time making sure we develop it. He moves people and circumstances making sure they become part of our great journey. The problem is, we don’t see it that way when going through it! If we are not careful and allow the wrong attitude to set in during this process; then trouble, anxiety, and even despair come Think of Joseph in Egypt when going through your personal trials. He is perhaps one of the greatest examples to imitate for success.
